DESIGNED FOR VERSATILITY

Hematology smear preparation and staining station
Full automation and standardization of the preparation and staining of hematological smears
Automatic sample feeding is combined with the option for manual feeding.
High-quality smear preparation is achieved through the system's ability to adapt to the characteristics of the patient sample.
The device can be operated either as a standalone unit or as part of automated hematology workstations featuring XN-series analyzers.
The SP-50 system utilizes an intelligent wedge-based smear preparation method. It automatically determines—based on the hematocrit of the sample under analysis—the volume of blood to be applied, the angle of the spreader blade, the application speed, and the waiting time. The SP-50 system offers up to 8 different levels of adjustment.
The slide preparation system ensures a monolayer of cells, guaranteeing high-quality microscopy in both manual and automated modes.
The system utilizes several staining protocols that are highly configurable, allowing for the standardization of smear staining quality and meeting the most rigorous requirements. The following protocols—for both dual and single staining—can be applied: May-Grünwald-Giemsa, Giemsa, and Wright.
Blood smears are stained using a dedicated cassette system that holds a single slide per cassette. This method ensures optimal contact between the blood smear and the staining reagents, while preventing reagent evaporation. To guarantee proper fixation of the blood prior to staining, a distinct pre-fixation step is integrated into the staining process.

Due to the flexibility of the staining protocol, a specialized protocol can be used for staining bone marrow.
Configurations for adaptation to various needs

The SP-50 comes in two configurations: the SP-50 S (Standard), with a throughput of 30 smears per hour, and the SP-50 H (High Speed), with a throughput of 75 smears per hour—meeting the needs of both low-to-medium volume laboratories and high-capacity, multi-disciplinary centralized laboratories.
The SP-50 can operate effectively in standalone mode as a component of an automated hematology analysis system already present in the laboratory.
The SP-50 continues the modular concept of the XN series and can be easily integrated into hematology workstations of varying capacities. The XN-1500, XN-3000, and XN-3100 systems, which incorporate the SP-50, provide automation for all components of a hematological analysis.
